Manufacturing

Caspar the Label is proud to be a global brand, not just because of where our products land, but where they begin. The majority of our pieces are produced in a specialised, women-owned and run, independent atelier in Madagascar. We work with highly skilled local female artisans, supporting them with fair wages, and opportunities to learn the skills needed to build a livelihood and career, which funnels funds back into their community. They ensure that every stitch in your pieces are made with quality, care, and passion.

Material Sustainability

Although creating new products naturally means we aren’t fully sustainable, we try to compensate in every area we can. We make sure that over 80% of our products use consciously selected deadstock materials in surplus, produced locally in Portugal and Italy to minimise our carbon footprint of imports, and to avoid landfill. Remaining fabrics are sourced from trustworthy suppliers who also keep sustainability in mind.

Caspar the Label aims to produce limited runs of our pieces, as fabric stocks last, to avoid the risk of overproduction. This means that some of our designs may not always be restocked in the same fabric, but we try to find the closest alternative.

Recycled Packaging

Sustainability is also considered when it comes to selecting products to use for our packaging. We send all of your orders in biodegradable and recyclable glassine paper packages and brown paper mailers, and decorated with eco-friendly thermal labels, crafted from recycled paper and plant-based plastics. Our manufacturers are also instructed to reuse shipment boxes and fillers to pack our products.

Aftercare

In order to keep Caspar the Label sustainable throughout the whole process from manufacturing to product end of life, here are some guidelines on how to keep your pieces for longer:

  • Hand wash or dry clean is recommended (especially your knits!)

  • Use the cold setting if machine washing

  • Air dry, avoid tumble drying

We want our pieces to be enjoyed and loved for as long as they can be, as the brand currently does not offer refunds, please consider passing them on to others so they can be appreciated elsewhere :)
